Vandeventer Black Lawyer, Wycinsky, Chosen For CAA Women’s Soccer Silver Anniversary Team

RICHMOND, VA. The Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) recently announced the women’s soccer Silver Anniversary Team, naming the top 25 players from the conference's first 25 years.  The CAA's elite selection includes former College of William & Mary (W&M) player and Vandeventer Black attorney Michelle "Missy" V. Wycinsky.

Wycinsky played forward W&M from 1996 to 1999.  During her college years playing for the Tribe, some of her notable accolades include:
• Three-time selection to the NSCAA All-American team

• Two-time Hermann Trophy Finalist (National Player of the Year) in 1998 and 1999
• Chosen as the CAA Player of the Year in 1998 and 1999
• W&M’s all-time leader in assists (52) and points (202) and second in career goals (75)

• W&M Female Athlete of the Year 1999-2000
• Led W&M to four straight CAA titles and NCAA Tournament appearances

Prior to her law career, Missy was also a professional women’s soccer player with San Diego Spirit during the Women’s United Soccer Association inaugural 2001 season.

Wycinsky now concentrates her law practice in civil litigation, construction, public contracts and professional liability defense.  She is licensed to practice in Virginia and D.C. and is based in Vandeventer Black’s Richmond office.

As part of its 25th Anniversary celebration in 2009-10, the CAA is recognizing Silver Anniversary teams in 21 championship sports.  A panel of current and former head coaches in the conference selected the teams.

The CAA is known as one of the nation’s top women’s soccer conferences. Since sponsorship of the sport began in 1993, the CAA has sent multiple teams to the NCAA Women’s Soccer Championship in 14 of the 16 seasons.
