Construction
Vandeventer Black’s Construction Law team is part of your team. We bring experience with all phases of construction and infrastructure projects to the table, which include the initial proposal and financing considerations, through team and joint venture formation, design, construction, maintenance and operations. We have worked on projects as diverse as airports, marine terminals, shipyards, bridges, highways, schools, hospitals, electric power generation facilities, and wastewater treatment plants. Our clients include Fortune 500 and international construction companies, insurers and surety firms, public agencies operating airports and port facilities, engineering firms, as well as numerous contractors and specialty subcontractors of all sizes.
We practice preventive law in order to avoid disputes and provide training and internal assessments to our clients to help improve their business processes. When a problem does occur, we work in the field with the project personnel to assess the problem and formulate a cost-effective solution. Our most important goal is to create a relationship with each client that helps achieve your project and business objectives.
We provide start-to-finish advice relating to construction projects in the public and private sectors for owners, contractors, developers, builders, architects, engineers, and consultants. Our group includes veteran attorneys with construction field experience and scheduling and project management skills. Our team includes a number of lawyers who hold engineering degrees, a registered professional engineer and a registered architect.
We are committed to alternative dispute resolution as a means of providing the most cost-effective solution to contract disputes, and several members of this practice group are trained and certified mediators and arbitrators.
Our Construction attorneys not only practice in Virginia and North Carolina but also throughout the United States. We are licensed to practice in many states and have handled matters from Massachusetts to Florida and from Virginia to California.
